Send a text message to members
Do this when you need to reach members quickly on their phones.
Who can do this: Your role needs Edit access to Message Manager. A group leader can also text the groups they lead. You see New Text only if text messaging is turned on for your church.
- Open Message Manager. On a computer, click Message Center in the menu, then Message Manager. On a phone, tap More, then Message Center, then Message Manager.
- Click New Text. The Create New Text Message screen opens.
- Click Recipient Members or Recipient Groups.
- In the window that opens, check the names you want.
- Click Save Selection.
- Click in the box that says Type your text message here… and type your message.
- Click Send.
You see “Message sent successfully.” The text shows in the Message Manager list with the type Text Message.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- A text can have up to 320 characters. The counter under the box shows how many you used.
- The text starts with your church name, so members know who sent it.
- A text has no subject, no template and no attachments.
- You cannot send a text to a mailing list.
- The member list shows only current members who have a phone number. Members without a mobile number, or with texts turned off, do not get the text.
- You can also save a text as a draft or schedule it. See Save a message as a draft and Schedule a message for later.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- “At least one recipient (Member or Group) must be selected.”: Add a recipient.
- “Message is required”: Type a message.
- You do not see New Text: Text messaging is not turned on for your church, or your role cannot send texts. Ask your church admin.
