Record attendance for a service

Record attendance after each service, so you can see who came and follow up with who did not.

Who can do this: Your role needs Edit access to Attendance Tracker. The built-in Members role cannot use the Attendance Tracker. If you do not see Attendance Tracker in the menu, ask your church admin.

  1. On a computer, click Attendance Tracker in the menu. On a phone, tap More, then Attendance Tracker.
  2. On the Attendance tab, click Add Attendance.
  3. Stay on the Members tab.
  4. Under Service, click the service.
  5. Under Date:, click Pick a date, then click the day of the service.
  6. In the Members list, click the check mark for each member who came.
  7. Under Visitors, click Select visitors…, then check each visitor who came.
  8. Click Save Attendance.

You see Attendance created successfully. The service shows in the list on the Attendance tab.

  • Every member starts as absent, with the reason Unknown Reasons. Mark only the people who came.
  • To find a member, type in Search member name….
  • To show only one group, click Member Group next to Filter by:. Choose Users without groups to see members who are in no group. You see this filter only if your role can open Member Groups.
  • To give a reason for an absence, click the reason in that member’s row, then click a reason. To add a new reason, see Add an absence reason.
  • Total attendance count: is optional. Use it only when more people came than the members and visitors you marked.
  • The services in the list are the services in the Duty Manager. To add one, see Add a service.
  • If a visitor is not in the list, see Add a visitor while you take attendance.
  • “Service is required”: Click a service.
  • “Service date is required”: Pick a date.
  • “Service date cannot be in the future”: Pick today or an earlier date.
  • “Invalid Attendance Count”: The number in Total attendance count: is lower than the members and visitors you marked. Type a higher number, or clear the box.
