Delete a role

Delete a role when your church does not need it. You cannot delete a role while people have it.

Who can do this: You need Edit access to User Roles, and View or Edit access to Role Management.

1. Find out who has the role. See See who has each role.
2. Give each of those people a different role. See Change a person’s role.
3. On a computer, click Church Membership in the menu, then Role Management. On a phone, tap More, then Church Membership, then Role Management.
4. On the right of the role’s row, click the trash icon.
5. In the Delete Role Group window, click Yes, delete.

You see Role deleted! and the role leaves the list.

Caution

You cannot undo a delete. To use the role again, create it again. See Create a role.

Good to know

• You cannot delete the built-in Admins and Members roles. Their rows have no trash icon.

If it does not work

• Error deleting role! with “cannot be deleted because it is assigned to users”: People still have this role. Do steps 1 and 2, then try again.
