Undo a change
Undo takes back your last change. Redo puts it back again. History lets you jump back several changes at once. They work on the changes you made since you opened the builder.
Undo or redo one change
Section titled “Undo or redo one change”- In the top bar, click Undo. A message says what it took back, for example “Undid: Church info”.
- To put it back, click Redo.
Click Undo again to go back one more change. The builder keeps your last 60 changes, or fewer on a site with many large photos.
On a computer, you can also use the keyboard:
- Undo: Cmd+Z on a Mac, Ctrl+Z on Windows.
- Redo: Cmd+Shift+Z on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+Z on Windows.
The keys undo a whole change, like a deleted section. While you are typing in a box or on the page, they undo your typing instead. They do nothing while a window is open. Close the window first.
Jump back to before an earlier change
Section titled “Jump back to before an earlier change”- In the top bar, click History. A list called Changes this session opens. The newest change is first, with the time you made it.
- Click a change. Your site goes back to just before it.
A message says “Went back to before:” and names the change. If you went too far, click Redo.
On a phone
Section titled “On a phone”Tap Tools in the top bar. Undo, Redo and History are in that menu.
What undo cannot do
Section titled “What undo cannot do”- Undo works only in this session. When you reload the page, close it, or open another site, the list starts empty. To go back further, see Restore an earlier version of your site.
- Undo does not change your live site. It changes the site you are editing. To put the undone version live, click Publish.
- Undo does not take back a publish. To change your live site again, change your draft and publish again.
- Deleted pages and sections have their own lists. You can also bring them back from Deleted pages or Deleted sections on this page in the panel on the left. See Delete or restore a page and Hide or delete a section.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- Undo and History are grayed out: You have made no changes since you opened the builder. To go back further, use Site history.
- Cmd+Z or Ctrl+Z does nothing: A window is open, or you are typing in a box. Close the window, or click outside the box, then try again.
- “Viewing only” in the top bar: Someone else is editing, so you cannot undo. See Take over editing from someone else.
