Change a photo
Changing a photo swaps the picture on the page. The builder makes a smaller copy for your site, so big photos are fine.
- Open the page that has the photo.
- Click the photo. The Replace image window opens.
- On the Upload tab, click Choose a photo, or drag one here. On a computer, you can also drag a photo onto that box.
- Choose the photo. It can be a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF.
- In Describe this photo (alt text), type a few words about the photo. For example, “Our congregation singing on Sunday morning.” People who use a screen reader hear these words, and Google reads them too.
- Click Apply.
The photo changes on the page. Click Publish to put it on your live site. See Publish your site.
To use one of your template’s own photos, click the Site images tab in step 3. Search or scroll, and click one.
If the photo is cut off in the wrong place, slide it in its box. See Move a photo to frame it.
To take a photo off, click Remove photo in the same window. This button shows only on a photo you added to a card. You can replace the template’s other photos, but not remove them. See Add a photo where there is none.
On a phone
Section titled “On a phone”The box in step 3 says Choose a photo. Tap it, and choose a photo from your phone or take a new one. An iPhone sends its photos in a form the builder can use, so you do not need to convert anything.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- Apply is gray: Choose a photo first.
- “That is not a photo we can use. Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF file.”: Save the photo as a JPG or PNG and try again. See Photo files that work.
- “This browser cannot open HEIC photos from an iPhone.”: Open the builder in Safari, or add the photo from the iPhone itself.
- “The photo is on the page, and it uploads with your next save.”: The upload did not finish. Leave the tab open. It tries again when the builder saves.
- The top bar says “Could not save: browser storage is full”: Remove a photo you do not need, or undo your last change. Do not close the tab until the message goes away.
- “… is editing the site now”: Someone else has the site open. See Take over editing from someone else.
