Add a photo where there is none

Some cards and sections come with words only. You can add a photo to a card, or put one behind a whole section.

Cards are the boxes with a short title and a few lines of words, like the ones in the Three cards section.

  1. Open the page and find the card.
  2. Point at the card. A + Photo button appears at its top corner. On a phone or tablet, the button is always there.
  3. Click + Photo. The Add a photo to this card window opens.
  4. Click Choose a photo, or drag one here, and choose a photo. Or click the Site images tab and pick one of your template’s photos.
  5. In Describe this photo (alt text), type a few words about the photo.
  6. Click Apply.

The photo goes at the top of the card. On a narrow card in a side column, it sits small at the left.

To change it later, click the photo. To take it off, click the red × at the photo’s top left corner. The + Photo button comes back.

  1. Point at the section. A dark bar appears at its top right. On a phone or tablet, the bar is always there.
  2. In the bar, click the Background button. It looks like a paint drop. The Section background panel opens.
  3. Click Add a photo…. The Section background photo window opens.
  4. Choose a photo, type a few words in Describe this photo (alt text), and click Apply.

The section’s color becomes a see-through tint over the photo, so the words stay easy to read. Click one of the three color circles in the same panel to change the tint. See Change a section background.

To take the photo off, open the Section background panel again and click Remove photo. The background goes back to a solid color.

  • There is no + Photo button: The card already has a photo, or it is not a card that takes one. Click the photo to change it instead. See Change a photo.
  • Apply is gray: Choose a photo first.
  • “That is not a photo we can use. Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF file.”: See Photo files that work.
