Link the banner to your event page

Many churches put a banner across the top of every page that sends visitors to their VBS or gospel meeting page. The order matters. The banner can only link to a page that is on, so turn the page on first.

  1. Fill in your event page. See Set up a VBS page or Set up a gospel meeting page.
  2. Under Pages, click the gear beside the event page. Page settings opens.
  3. Switch Page published on and click Save.
  4. In the panel on the left, under Your website, click Announcement banner.
  5. Switch Show the banner on.
  6. Type your news in Banner text, like VBS is June 9 to 11. Register your children today.
  7. Type the link’s words in Link text, like Register.
  8. In Links to (published pages), choose your event page, like VBS.
  9. Leave Or a web address empty. A web address there is used instead of the page.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Click Publish. See Publish your site.

The banner now shows on every page of your live site, with a link to your event page. You can also add the page to your menu. See Change your menus.

Take them down in this order, so no link points to a page that is gone.

  1. Click Announcement banner. Switch Show the banner off and click Save.
  2. Click the gear beside the event page. Switch Page published off and click Save.
  3. Click Publish.
  • Your event page is not in Links to: The page is still off. Switch Page published on in its Page settings, click Save, then open the banner again.
  • The banner goes to the wrong place: Or a web address has an address in it. Clear it, then choose your page in Links to (published pages).
  • Publish says pages you turned off are still linked: You turned the page off while the banner or a menu still points to it. Switch the banner off, or switch the page back on.
